    Character Bloodlines

Post by Serenity on Tue Oct 21, 2014 3:24 am

    Bloodlines

A Bloodline is an extremely specialized power that resides within a single family that are all related through birth and by blood. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

A Bloodline has to be extremely specific and special. There will be absolutely no "simple" powers within a bloodline. For example, a bloodline will not be "Character A can go invisible" or "Character B can manipulate water". A Bloodline is much more in depth and has to be difficult to mimic. Be creative and think hard about this.

Any Bloodline that is established with have a "Creator". If you want your character to be a part of a certain Bloodline, ask the Creator of the Bloodline for permission. All Bloodlines will be strictly reviewed by Admin. All powers must follow the regular rules of the site.

There is no set template for creating a bloodline, but there are a few things required in the description.
First off, the name of the power. Try to make it something that actually describes what the power is.
Secondly, the name of the family the power belongs to.
Thirdly, who does the power pass down through? Some powers only pass down through the female or male while some only fall into the first born? Maybe it skips a generation?
Fourth, a list of people who are currently in possession of the power, not just members of the family.

    Name Of Power: Absolute Purity
    Name Of Family: Unknown
People Currently With This Power: Serenity Verdant
Any Openings?: No. No other character, unless given an extremely good reason, will ever be given permission to use this power. It is specialized to one character.

Power Description: This Bloodline gives those that are a part of it a very pure Arcana. The Arcana's purity can be used differently from character to character, but it always has one thing that it always does no matter what: expel evil. This Arcana has little effects on things that are "good", but a serious effect on things that are "bad".

    Name Of Power: The Seer
    Name Of Family: Lawrence
People Currently With This Power: Melinda Lawrence
    Any Openings?: Possible.

Power Description: The female members of this family gain the ability to see and communicate with the dead to help them move on to "the light". More powerful members of this bloodline gain a Scepter that allows the character to fight more powerful and evil spirits. Descriptions of what this family calls different kinds of spirits are in Melinda Lawrence's App.

    Name Of Power: Corruption
    Name Of Family: N/A
People Currently With This Power: Aila Lalleim
Any Openings?: Nope. Nada. Never. No-sir-ee. Zilch. Nil. Et cetera. You get the picture.

Power Description: Effectively, Aila's bloodline allows her to corrupt a person, giving them an 'evil' persona. It can also corrupt Arcana, forcing different powers or causing current powers to corrupt. It was caused by an effective mutation in her Arcana itself. Because it was a mutation to her Arcana, it could, theoretically, be passed down to Aila's child(ren). However, it would have to be discussed in-full when/if she ever has one (or more).

    Name Of Power: Unified Language
Name Of Family: Depends on the choice of the possessing parent. At this point, it is Ito.
People Currently With This Power: Daigoro Ito
Any Openings?: Not until Daigoro has a child, or chooses to pass this power to someone else.

Power Description: The Unified Language is a uniquely powerful Arcana, but can sometimes be slated as one of the weaker ones. The Unified Language works under the impression that no matter the type of Arcana, there is a word to describe every function that it gives. Speaking that word, as a holder of the Unified Language, allows you to formulate that Arcana into being. Even more powerful about this is the ability to combine one or more of these wordspells, creating a very malleable power for an Arcana-user. This power is only available to one heir at a time--currently, this is Daigoro Ito. The power can be passed across a generation as well as down.

    Name Of Power: Null
    Name Of Family: De Angelus
People Currently With This Power: Xander de Angelus, Xavier d'Angelus
    Any Openings?: Yes, a few.

Power Description: The 'Null' is the given power to completely negate Arcana. It does not destroy Arcane Energy--rather, it disperses it on contact, or stops it from being brought forth. As a result, users of the 'Null' tend to be alienated in more Arcane societies. The 'Null' manifests itself in two ways on a user. Firstly, they have a field that sits mere millimetres from their skin, cancelling any kind of Arcana that touches them. Because they're also users of Arcana, this means that they cannot use Arcane Items either. Then, their power manifests into an active ability. For instance, Xander de Angelus has a 'Null Zone', that he can use to cancel Arcana in an area around him. This doesn't mean that everyone with the 'Null' can create a zone.

    Name Of Power: Reduced Capacity
Name Of Family: No single name as there are probably a good number of separate families that are at least carriers.
People Currently With This Power: Minami Shimada
Any Openings?: Theoretically?  It is old and rare enough that it could be latent within distant and loooong lost branches of family with no one knowing until it shows up.

Power Description: This is not a blessing, it is a curse.  An incredibly rare one.  It is practically an Arcanic allergy, but the person in question needs not be even remotely in contact with external Arcana.  This metaphorical allergy, if we call it that, is capable of reacting to it's own Arcana.  An allergy is a "protective" bodily reaction to something, but in many cases can be a fatal or generally unpleasant reaction to nothing.  This could also be compared to a deletive gene (only brought forth through acts such as incest) that is insanely negative, except this has nothing to do with incest.  Effectively, this is an Arcana that stifles the brain in order to "protect" it.  It dampens, hinders, and severs connections as a protective measure, often assaulting connections created through great effort or unpleasantness...except it doesn't protect at all.  What it does is stifle a person's ability to learn complex activities, to develop talents.  It is a strange form of mental disability.  It isn't hardcore, in many ways you can look at and talk to a person and they seem perfectly normal, and activities they enjoy that don't involve serious unpleasantness (be it exertion or...well, unpleasant).  However, people with this will be found to simply not have anything they are GOOD enough at to make it a productive endeavor.  When people with this condition survive to a ripe old age, it is almost consistently through the diligent aid of people who basically make sure to provide food and shelter for them.  Does this mean a person can't overcome it?  No, not at all.  It tends to stifle relatively new connections in the brain, but if someone works and works and works it is possible to make connections faster than it will effectively destroy and it will ignore the older ones.  Because incredibly fine motor functions are more easily targeted than intellectual gains, when one does become an effective member of society, it's usually as a scholar (I don't mean magical, but that is also possible).  It is incredibly rare, to the point there are many carriers but only a small number of afflicted at any given time.  It also is capable of not being transferred to the next generation, even as a carrier, as the genetics that cause it are so fragile that they just vanish sometimes, so a few families lucked out and lost that piece of their bloodline. It is unknown what determines if someone is a carrier or an afflicted person. If the Arcana that causes the issue is disrupted or negated, the effects will stop, but it must be constantly done as there is no known way to completely cut off the Arcana long term.
